Week 11: November 28th, 2018- Discussing art!

Banksy
- We discussed ideas about art, whether it has to be human, purposeful, whether it depends on what it communicates or can only be beautiful.
- We went through a handout of useful vocabulary to discuss and describe a work of art.
- We received a couple of pictures of artworks and described one to a classmate. Then we compared the two pictures we had.
- We did two listening comprehensions of an artist explaining how she works.
- We decided where to fit Glenn Miller Orchestra's I know why in our favourite films and then completed the gapped lyrics and sang!!
- Remember you can give me your reviews to get a little something for your effort. I have found some NPR book reviews you can have a look at. Some are texts, but others are audios.

Homework:
- Pick up an artwork from any gallery and read about it. Take notes, don't write the whole thing, and be prepared to  tell a classmate all you know. Try to pick up some specific vocabulary and use it in your production. Here you have some links from where to pick up something. They give you ideas, but you'll probably need to search in several sites:

Homework:
- I'd like you to design and record a review of The Shape of Water. Remember I gave you some vocabulary to try to use. Here you have some examples of reviews to be inspired. Some recorded ones from NPR and some easier ones from the British Council.  Here you have some book reviews, some of them in text and others in an audio.Try to record about three or four minutes.
- Remember that every two reviews of either a book, magazine article or film you borrow from the library gets you a prize!! You can either write the review or record your review and post in on the Recommendations wall of the department. I'll post it for you if you prefer!
