Week 18: January 30th, 2019- Animal Matters

Hello Giggles
- We talked a little bit about last week's theatre play and completed a gapped reading with the synopsis.
- We revised some animal vocabulary and its pronunciation and discussed pet matters.
- We had a look at ellipsis, a strategy to avoid repetition mainly in spoken English that also makes your English more fluent and natural.
- We quickly saw the first minute of a video on China's Plastic Ban and completed the questions of a handout.

Homework:
I'd like you to have a look at this other video about the same topic and devise five comprehension questions for your classmates.

  • Remember that, being 5 minutes long, you can have an example given at the beginning and five more questions separated by about 30 or 45 seconds.
  • Your questions can be open (ex. How much waste is Vietnam importing?) or true or false, multiple choice... Whatever you choose, do all the questions in the same way.
  • Also remember that if you are asking about a person's words, you need to mark it (ex. According to Harvey, what percentage of waste goes to China?)

Week 17: January 23rd, 2019- Theatre play! A Horror Symphony

Forum teatro

- We went to Teatro José María Rodero to see the play A Horror Symphony, by Forum Teatro, 19.30.

- This week we started warming up a little by describing to our classmates a couple of photos  of the holidays from our mobile phones.
- Some of you received your very well deserved Singing Diploma!!
- Then we asked each other some of the questions on the holidays and the new year from a handout.
- Then we saw the first nine minutes of Bridget Jones's Diary film and described the main characters.
- We saw the clip again to identify: fook/cooking vocabulary/ adjectives and insults.

Homework:
Choose one or two photos from these selections of the best of 2018 and be prepared to describe it to a classmate and explain it a little bit and also explain why you chose it. It may be from other sources of your own!
