Week 27: April 1st, 2020- Destinations from home

- Dear students, although through technical problems we tried to do the following activities:
- You told the class about spring film releases, anecdotes, myths and legends about the spring.
- We tried to answer some questions about travelling, now that we're only travelling with our imaginations with the video Top 10 Budget Destinations for 2020.
- We practised consonant-vowel linking with BBC Learning English.
- We listened to Lemon Tree, by Fool's Garden and answered some questions about what the lyrics say.
- Lemon Tree is one of the songs in Lyrics Training. It's a wonderful website in which you get dynamic exercises to practise vocabulary and structures. You get different levels for the same song and it's fun and a really productive tool to learn.

Homework:
- For the Easter holidays I'm going to open a Padlet virtual wall with different tasks or challenges that I'll post on different days. The first one will be published here tomorrow!! Stay tuned to complete all the challenges! I'll also contact you with the information about the Book Club!

Here we have our virtual wall for your Easter homework, I hope you like it!!

Be careful... Easter break might be full of English!!!

Week 18: January 30th, 2019- Animal Matters

Hello Giggles
- We talked a little bit about last week's theatre play and completed a gapped reading with the synopsis.
- We revised some animal vocabulary and its pronunciation and discussed pet matters.
- We had a look at ellipsis, a strategy to avoid repetition mainly in spoken English that also makes your English more fluent and natural.
- We quickly saw the first minute of a video on China's Plastic Ban and completed the questions of a handout.

Homework:
I'd like you to have a look at this other video about the same topic and devise five comprehension questions for your classmates.

  • Remember that, being 5 minutes long, you can have an example given at the beginning and five more questions separated by about 30 or 45 seconds.
  • Your questions can be open (ex. How much waste is Vietnam importing?) or true or false, multiple choice... Whatever you choose, do all the questions in the same way.
  • Also remember that if you are asking about a person's words, you need to mark it (ex. According to Harvey, what percentage of waste goes to China?)

gecko time
- We warmed up by talking about the photo you had chosen from the links.
- We wrote a new year resolution for the class poster.
- We worked in a comprehension listening activity with a video about a Sonic Attack in Cuba.
- We revised a little bit of vocabulary on animals by having a look at idioms with animal vocabulary.
- We closed the class with a song by Gabrielle, from the original soundtrack of Bridget Jones's Diary, Out of Reach.

REMINDER!! Next day, Wednesday 23rd, we are going to the theatre to see A Horror Symphony, so there's no class. We're meeting at 19.15 at Teatro José María Rodero. The play starts at 19.30. It's an hour long.
