Week 4: October 26th, 2022- Our stories

 

- In pairs, we told each other our anecdotes, paying attention to the structure of the stories with a setting, development and conclusion.
- In small groups we spoke about the words related to Halloween that your teacher had given you the previous day.

- We saw a video on the celebration of Halloween and answered a multiple choice exercise.

- We read a text about TV series and saw the IT Crowd episode The Haunting of Bill Crouse.

- We exchanged the structures that we had pìcked from the episode, the ones we already understood, didn't use but want to start using.

Homeweork: Record a file telling the story of the episode we saw and send it to me for feedback.

Week 9: November 6th, 2019- Finishing off our Halloween session and preparing for the film festival

we heart it

- We quickly remembered a few of our taboo words from last week.
- We also checked some structures we could adopt from last week's episode of IT Crowd, The Red Door.
- We wanted to vote on the best Halloween story on the wall. We promised that we were going to listen to them to be able to vote. Listen to Miguel Ángel, Patricia, Sarai and Arancha and let's vote!
- We corrected the verb tense revision handout and we practised them with the exercise Do I know you?
- We had a look at the trailer of our film for the Film Festival: Yesterday.
- We completed a gapped text with the lyrics of This is Halloween, by Marilyn Manson.

Homework:

- I gave you a handout with some vocabulary on films and cinema.

- Pick up one of these names, connected to the film Yesterday, and read something about it, so that you  are able to tell us next day before the film:

    - Ed Sheeran

    - Danny Boyle

    - Lily James

    - Himesh Patel

    - The song Yesterday, by the Beatles.

    - The album Help, 1965, by The Beatles

    - Paul McCartney

    - The Beatles

    - The Beatles in Spain

Week 8: October 30th, 2019- Halloween class!!

The Occult Museum

- We exchanged some information about Halloween food, monsters, films and traditions.
- We completed a definition reading to revise some of the vocabulary for it.
- We played a taboo game with more Halloween vocabulary (we're now experts!)
- We saw two short films to describe to our classmates. They were Nike, Why Sport? You'll live longer and Come to Bed.
- We saw an IT Crowd episode with a Halloween character, Richmond Avenal: The Red Door.

Homework:
- I can't seem to make the links to your Halloween recordings work, could you may be send them again to me or copy them to the body of the blog entry, not in a commentary? I don't know what happens!
- As homework I wanted you to listen to your classmates' recordings to decide on a winner, your favourite, so that we can vote next day.
- I would also like you to record a summary of the IT Crowd episode we saw (if you couldn't come, the link to the whole episode is above) and send it to me to get feedback.

Week 30: May 8th, 2019- The last day with flowers!

- We started our last day by telling each other about books we had read that were memorable in any way.
- We then received a questionnaire about activities we had done all through the year.
- We saw the second episode of the first series of The IT Crowd, Calamity Jen, which is hilarious, as usual.
- We finished the class and the year with a song, from the Scottish band Travis, Flowers in the Window. And we all got a souvenir from this year together.
Thanks a lot for your gift,  all your work and your wonderful disposition to take part in everything we organised both in the school and in class. It's been a great year. I wish you all the best for your future. Take lots of care.

Week 7: October 31st, 2018- Halloween!

Before telling you anything else, have a look at this poster of a Book Club in the school, just in case you're interested! It's C1 level but also suitable for experienced and courageous readers!
This term we'll be reading Love, Nina, by Nina Stibbe.
    I'll be also telling you about the possibility of coming to the theatre together in January: Wednesday 23rd, 19.30 Teatro José María Rodero.

- Today we told each other about the celebration of this  day in various cultures.
- We did a speaking exercise with vocabulary around the topic of Halloween, we told a nightmare on Halloween. This is the vocabulary we revised.
- We saw how to listen for detail in a video on Halloween, on how it became a holiday.
- We saw an episode of IT Crowd: The Haunting of Bill Crouse. We tried to identify chunks of language that we understood, never used but wanted to start using. You received this handout.

Homework:
- Having a look at the handout on TV series, think about a TV series you liked, you are following or one you're interested in and prepare something to tell your classmates at the beginning of the class.
